Tattva is a Sanskrit word meaning basic elements. The philosophical meaning is “essence”, “principle”, or “fundamental truth”. This idea also beautifully connects with food. Food is made of 5 Tattvas (elements):

Earth or Prithvi means nourishment.
Water or Jala is digestion.
Fire or Agni represents heat and metabolism.
Air or Vayu is movement.
Space or Akasha represents balance.

Every dish is considered a combination of these fundamental forces. At Tattva with modern Indian gastronomy, we blend authentic Indian flavors from various parts of INDIA with new techniques. From north in Kashmir to southern Kerala, from eastern Arunachal to western Gujarat.

From an early age, Chef Prateek Basu found his calling in the art of hospitality. His passion for culinary excellence took shape while still in school, leading him to compete in the prestigious National Chef Competition, which is a rare honor for such a young talent.

Before completing his studies, Chef Basu joined Hyatt Kolkata’s Italian specialty restaurant, marking the beginning of a distinguished career across luxury resorts and global fine-dining kitchens.

Today, as Director of Culinary at Wyndham Grand Barbados – Sam Lord’s Castle, Chef Basu leads a diverse team driven by creativity, authenticity, and passion. His culinary philosophy blends local ingredients with global inspiration, crafting dishes that delight the palate and tell the story of Barbados in every bite.
